Berta is Charlie Harper’s housekeeper. She always has some sort of wisecrack against someone in the house. She seems to be a very blunt person who tells it like it is and is not afraid of what everyone may think. Berta pretty much runs the house, even though it is Charlie’s house. She seems to make her self at home. She does not put up with any kind of crap from the guys and she will tell them so herself. Conchata Ferrel plays Berta on the hit television show Two and a Half Men.

Conchata Background

Conchata Ferrel was born on March 28, 1943 in Charleston, West Virginia. Her parents are Luther Martin and Mescal Lorain Ferrel. Conchata attended West Virginia and Marshall Universities. She graduated from Marshall with a degree in social studies education. She eventually pursued life in theater and ended up achieving success off-Broadway. Conchata is a member of the Circle in the Square theatrical company. She played in Wilson’s “Hot L Baltimore” and in Edward J. Moore’s “The Sea Horse”. She has played steady in TV shows and films ever since. Conchata is married to Arnold Anders Anderson and has a daughter named Samantha.

Conchata’s Filmography

Conchata has been in over 100 movies and TV shows since her debut in 1974. Her first big screen role was in Deadly Hero as Slugger Ann in 1976, she also had a part in another movie that year called Network. In 1977, Conchata played in a few TV shows and in the TV movie Mixed Nuts. She played in two television movies in 1978 Who’ll Save Our Children and A Death in Canaan. In 1979 she did two movies, TV movie Before and After and Heartland, she also did two episodes of The Love Boat.

In 1980, Conchata played in three TV movies, The Seduction of Miss Leona, Reunion and Rape and Marriage: The Rideout Case. Between 1981 and 1983, Conchata did many TV shows and three TV movies Life of the Party: The Story of Beatrice, Miss Lonelyhearts and Emergency Room. After doing many more TV shows and TV movies, Conchata did not hit the big screen again until 1988 in the movies Portrait of a White Marriage, Mystic Pizza and For Keeps.

She did many more TV shows and TV movies and then landed the role of Helen in the award-winning movie Edward Scissorhands staring Jonny Depp. Then in 1993, Conchata landed roles in Samurai Cowboy, Heaven & Earth, Family Prayers, True Romance and Cobra. In 1994 she played in A Worn Path and then in 1996 she played in Freeway and My Fellow Americans. She also had a role in Touch in 1997. After Touch, Conchata did many more TV shows and movies. She landed more big screen roles in Erin Brockovich, Crime and Punishment in Suburbia, K PAX and Mr. Deeds.

Conchata’s Awards

Conchata has been nominated three times and has won one award. In 1981 she won the Bronze Wrangler with the rest of the cast for Heartland. She was nominated for three Emmys, 1992 for L.A. Law, 2005 for Two and a Half Men and again in 2007 for Two and a Half Men.
