Charlie Sheen

Charlie Harper is a successful jingle writing bachelor with a home on the beach and a jag in the drive. One day his whole world gets turned upside down when his brother Allan and Allan’s son Jake come to live with him. Despite this, Charlie is helping raise Jake and Jake seems to look up to him more than he does his own father. Allan had recently left his gold digging wife. Charlie is the older of the two brothers and is lazy and irresponsible. Charlie is also a ladies man, usually having a different girl each episode. Charlie Sheen stars as Charlie Harper.

Charlie’s Background

Charlie Sheen was born Carlos Irwin Estevez. He was born on September 3, 1965 in New York City, New York. When he was born he was considered a “blue baby” and was not breathing and the doctor that saved his life was named Irwin, this is where Charlie’s middle name comes from. His father is Martin Sheen who was just getting into the acting business when Charlie was born and his mother, Janet Sheen, was a previous art student in New York. Charlie has two older brothers, Emilio and Ramon Estevez, and a younger sister, Renee Estevez.

Charlie began to show an interest in acting at a young age and appeared in a movie with his dad in 1974. While in high school he had two main interests, acting and baseball. However, because of his success on the field, his grades began to fall. Charlie ended up being expelled a few weeks before graduation. After high school he began trying to find acting roles and succeeded with his first major role in the movie Red Dawn.

In the mid 90’s, Charlie’s professional and personal life began to go down hill. He began doing drugs and drinking. His alcohol and drug abuse landed him in rehab several times and Charlie ended up overdosing. He decided it was time to quit and went a year without any brews. Once the 90’s came to an end so did all of Charlie’s bad luck and habits. He married and had two daughters with Denise Richards. However, they were divorced shortly after the youngest was born. He has one other daughter with Paula Profit.

Charlie’s Filmography

Charlie began his career in 1984 in the Oliver Stone movie Red Dawn and then went on to do two more movies for Oliver Stone, Platoon and Wall Street. In 1986, Charlie played a small part in the hit movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. He also played in Young Guns in 1988 and then in Major League in 1989. In 1990 he played alongside Clint Eastwood in the big screen flop The Rookie.

In 1991, he played in Hot Shots and also in the sequel in 1993. Charlie played in Major League 2 in 1994. Charlie did many more films in the late 90’s to early 2000’s including All Dogs Go To Heaven 2, Free Money, Postmortem, Being John Malkovich, Good Advice, and Scary Movie 3 and 4. In 2003 Charlie got his role as Charlie Harper in Two and a Half Men and the show is currently in its fifth season.

Charlie’s Awards

Charlie has won 3 awards including a Golden Globe and has had 13 nominations. Charlie won the Golden Globe for his part in Spin City and his other wins include a Bronze Wrangler award for Spin City and a star on the walk of fame. His 13 nominations include one teen choice award, two actor awards, three people’s choice awards, one blimp award, two other golden globe awards, two Emmys and two Alma awards.
